Caitlin Gardiner, OTR/L is an occupational therapist who strives to provide the best care to individuals across the life span from newborns to geriatrics. During the pandemic, Caitlin saw that our community was in need of occupational therapy services that could be provided to both pediatrics and adults in their homes, daycares, or schools allowing them and their families to feel safe and comfortable when receiving therapy services.
Caitlin graduated with Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Occupational Therapy from Towson University. She has over 9 years of occupational therapy experience in various settings with individuals across the life span. Caitlin has diverse and comprehensive experience evaluating and treating pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics both inpatient and in outpatient settings. Caitlin also has experience working in the Baltimore County Public Schools System developing and executing Individual Education Plans for elementary school students. Throughout her clinical experience Caitlin evaluated, administered standardized assessments, and developed treatment plans for individuals across the lifespan with but not limited to the following conditions: Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, Down Syndrome, hypotonia, ADHD, ADD, dysgraphia, sensory processing disorder, behavioral disorders, cerebral palsy, oral motor deficits, visual deficits, fine and gross motor deficits, picky eating, primitive reflex integration, brachial plexus injuries, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, lymphedema, fibromyalgia, vertigo, cardiac conditions, orthopedic injuries/surgeries, and hand, elbow, shoulder, neck and pack pain. Caitlin often leverages her diverse and comprehensive experience. Throughout her career, she actively participated in multidisciplinary teams consisting of doctors, physician’s assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, board certified behavioral analysts, teachers, reading specialists, special educators, paraeducators, counselors, psychologists, and social workers. Caitlin believes in a team approach to care and utilizes her experience to recommend care when needed.
Caitlin’s areas of expertise include treating visual, fine, and gross motor deficits, handwriting interventions, sensory integration, orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises, therapeutic activities, manual therapy, the use of heat/cold packs, and electrical stimulation to treat upper extremity, neck, and back pain. Her advanced training includes Integrated Listening Systems (iLs), the Graston Technique, edema management, and rehabilitation for the shoulder complex. Her professional interests include, handwriting skills, manual therapy, sensory integration, ergonomic training, and lymphedema.
